About Quartz Press
Who is Quartz Press for?
Founders, executives, consultants, coaches, and subject-matter experts who want to publish a professional business book without becoming project managers for their own book project.
How long has Quartz Press been publishing?
We have been publishing books for business leaders since 2012. The brand has evolved over time, but the company and the team behind it have been in this work for over a decade.
Are you a traditional publisher, a self-publishing service, or a hybrid publisher?
Hybrid. We run the full publishing workflow for you — ghostwriting through to launch — while you keep 100% of your royalties, all of your rights, and full ownership of the book itself. Quartz Press holds the ISBNs as the publisher of record, in the same way any traditional publisher would, which keeps your imprint professional and your retailer metadata clean. See self-publishing vs hybrid publishing for the comparison.
Pricing and scope
How much does a Quartz Press book cost?
We publish our packages openly on the pricing page. Full-service business book publishing with ghostwriting typically runs from the high five figures into the low six figures, depending on scope. Lower-priced packages are available for authors who want to do more of the writing themselves.
Why are business book ghostwriters so expensive?
A ghostwritten business book is a year of senior professional time — research, interviews, drafting, rewriting, and editorial work. Quoted at freelance day rates, that time is easily the cost of a new car. Most authors find the ROI comes from the first one or two clients, speaking gigs, or partnerships the book generates.
Is there a cheaper option?
Yes. Author coaching is our lower-priced option for founders who want to write the book themselves with expert support. We also offer editorial-only packages for authors who already have a draft.
Do you charge royalties on top of the fee?
No. You keep 100% of net royalties on every copy sold, forever. We are paid once, for the work, and you own the book afterwards.
Ownership and rights
Do I own the book when we are done?
You own the manuscript, the copyright, the cover, the interior files, and every other right associated with the book. Quartz Press holds the ISBNs as the publisher of record — that is how hybrid publishing works, and it is the same arrangement you would have with a traditional publisher — but the content, the rights, and the royalties are all yours.
Whose name goes on the cover of a ghostwritten book?
Yours. Ghostwriting means the ghostwriter is invisible on the cover, the spine, and the title page. Your author bio, your photograph, your name in every retailer listing.
Can I take the book elsewhere later?
Yes. You own the rights to your book, so you are free to publish new editions elsewhere — with a traditional publisher, a different hybrid, or on your own — at any time. The ISBNs for the editions we published stay with Quartz Press (that is how ISBNs work everywhere in publishing: a new edition or a new publisher always means a new ISBN), but the content, the rights, and the future of the book are yours.
Process and timeline
How long does it take to write and publish a book with Quartz Press?
Most projects run on a predictable 6–9 month timeline from kickoff to launch day, with some running up to 12 months depending on scope, research, and any fixed external dates we are working toward.
How much of my time does the project require?
For a ghostwritten book, most authors spend about 40 to 60 hours across the whole project — six to twelve hours of recorded interviews, plus weekly chapter reviews. Author coaching requires significantly more author time.
Do I need a full outline before we start?
No. Building the outline is part of the service. We will help you decide what the book is about, who it is for, and the shape it should take.
Can you work faster if I have a fixed launch date?
Often yes. If you need the book ready for a keynote tour, fundraise, product launch, or specific event, we will work the timeline backwards from the date and tell you honestly whether it is possible.
Ghostwriting
Will the book actually sound like me?
Yes. Voice capture is the most important part of the ghostwriting process. We run recorded interviews, study the way you already speak and write, and draft chapter by chapter until the book reads like you on your best day.
What's the difference between a business book and a business memoir?
A business book leads with the framework or methodology. A business memoir leads with the story. Most real books blend both. We offer dedicated business book ghostwriting and business memoir ghostwriting services, and we will help you decide which frame fits your book best.
Do you handle confidential client material?
Yes. NDAs, anonymised case studies, and legal review for sensitive content are all standard. Nothing goes to print without the right sign-offs.
Publishing and distribution
Where will my book be available?
Everywhere business books are sold. Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes & Noble, Ingram-supplied bookshops worldwide, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, Audible, Apple Books audio, and Spotify Audiobooks — plus direct sales from your own website via Print Trail.
What formats do you produce?
Paperback, hardback, ebook, and audiobook. You can launch with all four at once or roll them out in sequence — we help you pick the right strategy for your book.
Do I need an ISBN?
Yes, one for each format. Quartz Press provides and registers the ISBNs as the publisher of record, so your book launches under a professional imprint rather than a self-published one. You do not need to buy your own.
What is Print Trail?
Print Trail is our sister service for direct sales. It lets you sell your book direct from your own website, keep 2.5 to 3 times the per-copy profit of an Amazon sale, and own the customer relationship. See the direct sales page for details.
Marketing and launch
Will my book become a bestseller?
Many of our authors hit Amazon category bestseller status in launch week. "Bestseller" as a credential is highly achievable with a well-run launch. What it really means is another question — see our 90-day launch plan for the honest take.
Do you handle book marketing?
Yes. Every full-service package includes launch planning, Amazon optimisation, a media kit, press outreach, social content, and launch team setup. See the marketing and launch service page.
What happens after launch week?
The book keeps working. Ongoing sales, speaking opportunities, advisory introductions, inbound leads — this is where the real ROI shows up. See the ongoing support page for how we keep the book working long after launch day.
