Book Publishing Strategy
Before you write a word, you need to know who the book is for, what it is going to do for your business, and how it is going to reach the right readers. A Quartz Press publishing strategy answers all three, on paper, before we draft a single chapter.
Book a Strategy CallWhat a Quartz Press publishing strategy covers
Reader definition
Who is the book actually for, what do they already believe, and what do they need to believe differently after reading it?
Business outcome
What is the book meant to do for your business — inbound leads, speaking bookings, authority, hiring, legacy? The answer shapes every other decision.
Positioning and title work
Working titles, subtitles, category positioning, and a one-sentence promise that a reader can repeat to a friend.
Competitive landscape
Honest analysis of the other books in your space, what they do well, and where the gap is that your book can credibly own.
Format and length plan
Framework book, memoir, playbook, or hybrid — and how long each format should run for your reader and your goal.
Timeline and milestones
A realistic schedule from kickoff through to launch, mapped against any fixed dates you are working toward.
Why strategy matters more than writing
Most business books fail for the same reason: they were written before anyone decided what the book was supposed to do. The author had a topic, not a strategy. The result is a manuscript that reads well enough but does nothing for the business.
A good strategy phase is usually four to six weeks of careful thinking, and it saves three to six months of wasted writing. It is the single highest-leverage part of a book project, and the one busy founders are most tempted to skip.
Every Quartz Press publishing package starts here, whether the book is ghostwritten, coached, or self-drafted. We do not start the next stage until the strategy is locked.
